I have a lot of observations, thoughts, and questions about Christianity. I like to think of myself as similar to the Bareans. You know, those people Paul declared "more noble" because they double-checked what he had to say. (Acts 17:11) Wait, you mean it's okay to question our church leadership? Imagine that!
I often hear people ask what Mormons, Jehova's Witnesses, or even Catholic's believe. Before answering those questions I think we need to make a distinction. We can try to explain the essential doctrines of these belief systems but that does not mean all or most individuals within those congregations actually hold those beliefs. I know a lot of "Christians" who don't know what they believe or why. Why do we assume that all members of other faiths have a solid knowledge of their own beliefs if Christians don't?
My point is this, Christians need to know what they believe and question that which does not line up with their understanding of God's word. We should not blindly follow our Pastor or church leadership no matter what they say or do. I like to provoke thought on these topics. If you are interested I hope you will participate. I think this discussion will lead to a deeper understanding of our faith and greater conviction in our lives. Hopefully we can do this in a civil manner without offending each other.
